Sorry haven't posted in a few days, but holidays you know. Anyway, MeiLin and CGH are getting along very well now. They snuggle alot and wrestle and run up and down the hallway at 3am together.

Can you see me?

MeiLin is hidding in this bag to remind me to wrap something up for her for christmas, as if I could forget her!

Don't forget who's the Queen around here!

MeiLin wanted to make sure not to forget her, since the blog has been all mushy about Cashmere Growlypants(CG) lately. But I did want to give you all a little bit about his life story, even though he's only 4 months old.

His life started out with a loving and devoted momma kitty and several siblings. Unfortunetly his momma's owner wasn't able to care for them all properly and first momma kitty then all the babies got ringworm. There is nothing sadder then a bunch of furless sick baby kitties!
My friend (the cat lady of Silverton) stepped in and took over ownership and care for the babies and momma. She nursed them back to health and eventually their fur grew back and most of them found homes.
Now gonna back up a little here, CG was housed in a vet style kennel during his illness with his mom and littermates. Everyday my friend would go out several times a day and grab each kitty and rub medicine all over their furless bodies. As the different kitties healed at different rates, they eventually had to be seperated to prevent reinfection. So poor CG was all alone in his kennel and the only real contact he had with humans was someone smearing smelly stuff on his body daily as well as feeding him and caring for him. You have to be careful with petting kitties who have no fur and illness...so as not to hurt their skin. Anyway, long story short...you would think that because his experience with people wasn't all happy that he would end up a shy or nervouse kitty, but he didn't. Infact, very much the opposite.
As soon as I brought him home he bonded with me and followed me around. He cries if I'm in the computer room too long. Now he's bonding very well with MeiLin who treats him as if he were her son. She holds him down to groom him and love on him. Its a very happy, satisfying, and full home now.
Its been a little over 3 months since Rajjah disappeared and I miss her everyday, but I think that having gotten MeiLin so unexpectedly has helped to heal my heart. And now that MeiLin has a little brother, I don't need to worry if I'm forced to be away overnight. She'll never be lonely with Mr. Cashmere Growlypants Hunter here to occupy her with play, wrestling and kanoodling time.

Caught in the act of Kanoodling!

I am so glad that the two of them are getting along now. I was really worried at first when I brought Cashmere Growlypants(CG) home. MeiLin would just look at CG and growl and stare and growl some more. She was looking at him like "Excuse me, what is this Thing doing in MY house?". But in just a few short days she has changed to more along the lines of "Sweet, you brought me a living toy!" lol. They run around the house, wrestle, and even Kanoodle! They were both sound asleep when I ran to grab the camera, but CG decided he had to find out what I was up to just as the shutter clicked.
I'll catch them both with their little eyes shut and furry dreams dancing in theirs heads one day!

Tomorrow I'll tell you about Cashmere Growlypants' early life.

Introducing the one and only Cashmere Growlypants

(aka, The Mighty Hunter!)

I am overwhelmed by all the great and sometimes very funny names that were put out there for me to chose from! I never have to worry if I have trouble naming a kitty again, I know that all the cat bloggers out there will help me!
Here is the official tally, only ones with more then 1 vote are here, look at yesterdays comments to see all the names:
Gizmo=4
Stormy=2
Big Furry Crybaby=One bean laugh, lots of annoyed furry ones. ;)
Hunter: 3
Velvet: 2
Nero:2
Cashmere:3
Cashmere Growlypants:6
I could have counted wrong, it was a long drive back...but anyway, I like the idea of a long name. His official name on his vet trips shall be Cashmere Growlypants Hunter. I'll probably call him all three different names during the course of the day, depending on his behavior at the moment..lol.
Thanks one and all!!!

I am the Nameless Wonder, adore my velvety self!

A little about my beautiful self. I am about 4 months old, neutered, boy kitty. I have pretty golden eyes and cashmere velvety black fur. I love to hunt my prey which is either a feather ball or a string on a wand. When I catches my prey I growl and try to take off with it. I am very insistent that the prey is now mine!
Also, If I am left alone for longer then I like I make little crying meows that sounds just like a bean baby. I can't help it, I's a youngster and I likes to know where the people is and where the big furry one is too. If they don't hides from me, then I'm fine. :)
Here are some names that people have thought might be right for me, you may vote by putting your favorite in the comments section, or adding a new one, and at the end of the day the lady will tally up the votes and let you know whats the winner.

Kane, Dubois, Salem, Batista or Booker.Gizmo or Mawgwi or Spike,Stormy,Zilla, Hunter, or Baghera (from the jungle story)Growly Pants and the big furry crybaby.

Hey, Thats my wheel!!

MeiLin and Growly Pants(aka, unnamed kitty) are getting along much better. Its progressed from her hissing and growling everytime he comes near her, to her only growling if she was surprised, to her chasing him and playing tag of some sort. At least, I'm gonna count it as playing since there's been no blood...seems a bit rough, but I think she's laying down the kitty law to him. I think in another few days they'll be cuddled up together like littermates. They fell asleep together on me this evening, she down by my feet and he on my knees (layed back recliner).

I'm still having intermitten outages with my internet so I'll try and get online around noon if possible and post a list of the names and my favorites and we can vote on them then. :)

Dec 15, 2006

You woke me up!

I had not heard MeiLin growl for awhile or the kitten running around so I went looking and found the boy down around the middle of the bed and MeiLin up at the head of the bed.

Of course it would have to be a cute moment for the kitties, when I happen to have not made my bed. And nothing matches..lol. The power was out last night, it was cold, I grabbed all the blankets for me! hehe
Anyway, go to the post for the 14th and take a peek in the comments section. Over this weekend I will gather all my favorite names, and everyone can help me vote for the favorite one. You can post name choices here on this post too.

Hello, what have we here?

This is a young neutered male kitty that I got so that MeiLin could have a companion and playmate. Unfortunately all she has done since he got here is hiss at him and growl when he gets too close. :(
I'm hoping they will bond over the next few days, if they can't get along I will have to find him a new loving home(because MeiLin was here first), but I'm hoping it will work out because he is really a sweet heart. Loves to be petted and play and just a happy guy. I think that with enough time that MeiLin will come around to having him here or at least maybe tolerate him.

If anyone has any good boy kitty names let me know and we can vote on all the different choices. I have my own personal idea...but I might be swayed if a really cool name pops up! So post in the comments and either tomorrow or Monday we will vote!

Boxes are so fun!

Don't know if you remeber that picture of MeiLin playing with the small box, well she climbed into it today and when I ran to get the camera she jumped out of it. I have no idea how she smooshed her body in there, but she managed somehow! Anyway, after some play time she got into this box and would swat at my fingers when I ran them infront of the box. She thought she was so smart to find a good hiding spot...she didn't realize I cut the box just right in order for her to have it to play in. :)

Ceasar enjoying(?)the snow

The snow has long since melted here, but I took a few pictures while it was around and I'll post them this next week. Is it just my imagination of does Ceasar look darker on his body then he use to? I should find a comparison photo, but he hates posing for me.
You can't even see his white paws very well cause it blends into the snow...hehe. However, no matter how his color changes, he is my darling big boy! I think that siamese are darker at the points because thats where the heat is on their body? And since he has eagerly added weight this winter, perhaps he's darker overall because he's warmer? Anyone with any information, please feel free to write in the comments section. :)

Soap Box Post

This is from a publication I get in my email. There should be links somewhere in the story so you can read more for yourself. The reason I am posting this on here is that I know alot of people make their donations around christmas time to wonderful caring charities as well as animal shelters, ect. I think that its important for everyone to be informed about the truth of PETA. Its true that this story is from 2005, however, if you research more about this orginization for yourself, I'm sure you will be angered at what you find. If a company wants to call themselves people for ETHICAL treatment of animals and say that they are working for the welfare of animals, they should NOT act like this group does. Please research for yourself before donating to a charity this holiday season. Drop off dry or canned dog/cat food at your local shelter, volunteer to clean kennels or walk dogs....there are many many ways to truely help animals.
Here is the article I'm talking about :

The following story is from This is True dated 17 July 2005. It is

"Ethical" Defined

After more than 100 dead dogs were dumped in a trash dumpster over
four weeks, police in Ahoskie, N.C., kept an eye on the trash receptacle
behind a supermarket. Sure enough, a van drove up and officers watched
the occupants throw in heavy plastic bags. They detained the two people
in the van and found 18 dead dogs in plastic bags in the dumpster,
including puppies; 13 more dead dogs were still in the van. Police say
the van is registered to the headquarters of People for the Ethical
Treatment of Animals, and the two occupants, Andrew B. Cook, 24, and
Adria Joy Hinkle, 27, identified themselves as PETA employees. An autopsy
performed on one of the dogs found it was healthy before it was killed.
Police say PETA has been picking up the animals -- alive -- from North
Carolina animal shelters, promising to find them good homes. Cook and
Hinkle have been charged with 62 felony counts of animal cruelty. In
response to the arrests PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said it's against
the group's policy for employees to dump animals in the trash, but "that
for some animals in North Carolina, there is no kinder option than
euthanasia." (Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald) ...Oops, my mistake: that's
"Playing God" Defined.

In his author's notes section, Cassingham had more to say about this
story:

The more I learn about PETA, the less I think of
them. The story of them killing animals isn't even unusual. According to
PETA's own filings, in 2004 PETA killed 86.3 percent of the
animals entrusted to its care -- a number that's rising, not falling.
Meanwhile, the SPCA in PETA's home town (Norfolk, Va.) was able to find
loving homes for 73 percent of the animals put in its care. A shortage of
funds? Nope: last year PETA took in $29 million in tax-exempt donations.
It simply has other priorities for the funds, like funding terrorism
(yes, really). But don't take my word for it: I got my figures from
http://www.PETAkillsAnimals.com
-- and they have copies of PETA's state and federal filings to back it
up. The bottom line: if you donate money to PETA because you think they
care for and about animals, you need to think some more. PETA literally
yells and screams about how others "kill animals" but this is how
they operate? Pathetic.

And you know what I wonder? PETA's official count of animals
they kill is 86.3 percent. But if they're going around picking up
animals, killing them while they drive around and not even giving them a
chance to be adopted, and then destroying the evidence by dumping
the bodies in the trash, are those deaths being reported? My
guess: no. While 86.3 percent is awful, the actual number is probably
much, much higher. How dare they lecture anyone
about the "ethical" treatment of animals!
