The kanoodling continues!

Sorry haven't posted in a few days, but holidays you know. Anyway, MeiLin and CGH are getting along very well now. They snuggle alot and wrestle and run up and down the hallway at 3am together.

December 24, 2006

Can you see me?

MeiLin is hidding in this bag to remind me to wrap something up for her for christmas, as if I could forget her!

MeiLin, Cashmere Growlypants Hunter(CGH), Ceasar, Empress, and the lone bean want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Have a happy, safe, sane Holiday season. Remember those who are in need and cuddle your pets a little closer to let them know how much you treasure their gifts of love.

Don't forget who's the Queen around here!

MeiLin wanted to make sure not to forget her, since the blog has been all mushy about Cashmere Growlypants(CG) lately. But I did want to give you all a little bit about his life story, even though he's only 4 months old.

His life started out with a loving and devoted momma kitty and several siblings. Unfortunetly his momma's owner wasn't able to care for them all properly and first momma kitty then all the babies got ringworm. There is nothing sadder then a bunch of furless sick baby kitties!
My friend (the cat lady of Silverton) stepped in and took over ownership and care for the babies and momma. She nursed them back to health and eventually their fur grew back and most of them found homes.
Now gonna back up a little here, CG was housed in a vet style kennel during his illness with his mom and littermates. Everyday my friend would go out several times a day and grab each kitty and rub medicine all over their furless bodies. As the different kitties healed at different rates, they eventually had to be seperated to prevent reinfection. So poor CG was all alone in his kennel and the only real contact he had with humans was someone smearing smelly stuff on his body daily as well as feeding him and caring for him. You have to be careful with petting kitties who have no fur and illness...so as not to hurt their skin. Anyway, long story short...you would think that because his experience with people wasn't all happy that he would end up a shy or nervouse kitty, but he didn't. Infact, very much the opposite.
As soon as I brought him home he bonded with me and followed me around. He cries if I'm in the computer room too long. Now he's bonding very well with MeiLin who treats him as if he were her son. She holds him down to groom him and love on him. Its a very happy, satisfying, and full home now.
Its been a little over 3 months since Rajjah disappeared and I miss her everyday, but I think that having gotten MeiLin so unexpectedly has helped to heal my heart. And now that MeiLin has a little brother, I don't need to worry if I'm forced to be away overnight. She'll never be lonely with Mr. Cashmere Growlypants Hunter here to occupy her with play, wrestling and kanoodling time.

Caught in the act of Kanoodling!

I am so glad that the two of them are getting along now. I was really worried at first when I brought Cashmere Growlypants(CG) home. MeiLin would just look at CG and growl and stare and growl some more. She was looking at him like "Excuse me, what is this Thing doing in MY house?". But in just a few short days she has changed to more along the lines of "Sweet, you brought me a living toy!" lol. They run around the house, wrestle, and even Kanoodle! They were both sound asleep when I ran to grab the camera, but CG decided he had to find out what I was up to just as the shutter clicked.
I'll catch them both with their little eyes shut and furry dreams dancing in theirs heads one day!

Tomorrow I'll tell you about Cashmere Growlypants' early life.

Introducing the one and only Cashmere Growlypants

(aka, The Mighty Hunter!)

I am overwhelmed by all the great and sometimes very funny names that were put out there for me to chose from! I never have to worry if I have trouble naming a kitty again, I know that all the cat bloggers out there will help me!
Here is the official tally, only ones with more then 1 vote are here, look at yesterdays comments to see all the names:
Gizmo=4
Stormy=2
Big Furry Crybaby=One bean laugh, lots of annoyed furry ones. ;)
Hunter: 3
Velvet: 2
Nero:2
Cashmere:3
Cashmere Growlypants:6
I could have counted wrong, it was a long drive back...but anyway, I like the idea of a long name. His official name on his vet trips shall be Cashmere Growlypants Hunter. I'll probably call him all three different names during the course of the day, depending on his behavior at the moment..lol.
Thanks one and all!!!

I am the Nameless Wonder, adore my velvety self!

A little about my beautiful self. I am about 4 months old, neutered, boy kitty. I have pretty golden eyes and cashmere velvety black fur. I love to hunt my prey which is either a feather ball or a string on a wand. When I catches my prey I growl and try to take off with it. I am very insistent that the prey is now mine!
Also, If I am left alone for longer then I like I make little crying meows that sounds just like a bean baby. I can't help it, I's a youngster and I likes to know where the people is and where the big furry one is too. If they don't hides from me, then I'm fine. :)
Here are some names that people have thought might be right for me, you may vote by putting your favorite in the comments section, or adding a new one, and at the end of the day the lady will tally up the votes and let you know whats the winner.

Kane, Dubois, Salem, Batista or Booker.Gizmo or Mawgwi or Spike,Stormy,Zilla, Hunter, or Baghera (from the jungle story)Growly Pants and the big furry crybaby.

Hey, Thats my wheel!!

MeiLin and Growly Pants(aka, unnamed kitty) are getting along much better. Its progressed from her hissing and growling everytime he comes near her, to her only growling if she was surprised, to her chasing him and playing tag of some sort. At least, I'm gonna count it as playing since there's been no blood...seems a bit rough, but I think she's laying down the kitty law to him. I think in another few days they'll be cuddled up together like littermates. They fell asleep together on me this evening, she down by my feet and he on my knees (layed back recliner).

I'm still having intermitten outages with my internet so I'll try and get online around noon if possible and post a list of the names and my favorites and we can vote on them then. :)

Dec 15, 2006

You woke me up!

I had not heard MeiLin growl for awhile or the kitten running around so I went looking and found the boy down around the middle of the bed and MeiLin up at the head of the bed.

Of course it would have to be a cute moment for the kitties, when I happen to have not made my bed. And nothing matches..lol. The power was out last night, it was cold, I grabbed all the blankets for me! hehe
Anyway, go to the post for the 14th and take a peek in the comments section. Over this weekend I will gather all my favorite names, and everyone can help me vote for the favorite one. You can post name choices here on this post too.

Dec 14, 2006

Hello, what have we here?

This is a young neutered male kitty that I got so that MeiLin could have a companion and playmate. Unfortunately all she has done since he got here is hiss at him and growl when he gets too close. :(
I'm hoping they will bond over the next few days, if they can't get along I will have to find him a new loving home(because MeiLin was here first), but I'm hoping it will work out because he is really a sweet heart. Loves to be petted and play and just a happy guy. I think that with enough time that MeiLin will come around to having him here or at least maybe tolerate him.

If anyone has any good boy kitty names let me know and we can vote on all the different choices. I have my own personal idea...but I might be swayed if a really cool name pops up! So post in the comments and either tomorrow or Monday we will vote!

Boxes are so fun!

Don't know if you remeber that picture of MeiLin playing with the small box, well she climbed into it today and when I ran to get the camera she jumped out of it. I have no idea how she smooshed her body in there, but she managed somehow! Anyway, after some play time she got into this box and would swat at my fingers when I ran them infront of the box. She thought she was so smart to find a good hiding spot...she didn't realize I cut the box just right in order for her to have it to play in. :)

Dec 11, 2006

Here is a much better photo of MeiLin

MeiLin here: I mades the lady takes a better pictures of my beautiful self. I likes to climbs ontop of the doors cause it confuses the food lady and cause I cans! So there! :)

Ceasar enjoying(?)the snow

The snow has long since melted here, but I took a few pictures while it was around and I'll post them this next week. Is it just my imagination of does Ceasar look darker on his body then he use to? I should find a comparison photo, but he hates posing for me.
You can't even see his white paws very well cause it blends into the snow...hehe. However, no matter how his color changes, he is my darling big boy! I think that siamese are darker at the points because thats where the heat is on their body? And since he has eagerly added weight this winter, perhaps he's darker overall because he's warmer? Anyone with any information, please feel free to write in the comments section. :)

Soap Box Post

This is from a publication I get in my email. There should be links somewhere in the story so you can read more for yourself. The reason I am posting this on here is that I know alot of people make their donations around christmas time to wonderful caring charities as well as animal shelters, ect. I think that its important for everyone to be informed about the truth of PETA. Its true that this story is from 2005, however, if you research more about this orginization for yourself, I'm sure you will be angered at what you find. If a company wants to call themselves people for ETHICAL treatment of animals and say that they are working for the welfare of animals, they should NOT act like this group does. Please research for yourself before donating to a charity this holiday season. Drop off dry or canned dog/cat food at your local shelter, volunteer to clean kennels or walk dogs....there are many many ways to truely help animals.
Here is the article I'm talking about :

The following story is from This is True dated 17 July 2005. It is
Copyright 2005 Randy Cassingham, all rights reserved, and reprinted here
with
permission
:

"Ethical" Defined

After more than 100 dead dogs were dumped in a trash dumpster over
four weeks, police in Ahoskie, N.C., kept an eye on the trash receptacle
behind a supermarket. Sure enough, a van drove up and officers watched
the occupants throw in heavy plastic bags. They detained the two people
in the van and found 18 dead dogs in plastic bags in the dumpster,
including puppies; 13 more dead dogs were still in the van. Police say
the van is registered to the headquarters of People for the Ethical
Treatment of Animals, and the two occupants, Andrew B. Cook, 24, and
Adria Joy Hinkle, 27, identified themselves as PETA employees. An autopsy
performed on one of the dogs found it was healthy before it was killed.
Police say PETA has been picking up the animals -- alive -- from North
Carolina animal shelters, promising to find them good homes. Cook and
Hinkle have been charged with 62 felony counts of animal cruelty. In
response to the arrests PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said it's against
the group's policy for employees to dump animals in the trash, but "that
for some animals in North Carolina, there is no kinder option than
euthanasia." (Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald) ...Oops, my mistake: that's
"Playing God" Defined.

In his author's notes section, Cassingham had more to say about this
story:

The more I learn about PETA, the less I think of
them. The story of them killing animals isn't even unusual. According to
PETA's own filings, in 2004 PETA killed 86.3 percent of the
animals entrusted to its care -- a number that's rising, not falling.
Meanwhile, the SPCA in PETA's home town (Norfolk, Va.) was able to find
loving homes for 73 percent of the animals put in its care. A shortage of
funds? Nope: last year PETA took in $29 million in tax-exempt donations.
It simply has other priorities for the funds, like funding terrorism
(yes, really). But don't take my word for it: I got my figures from
http://www.PETAkillsAnimals.com
-- and they have copies of PETA's state and federal filings to back it
up. The bottom line: if you donate money to PETA because you think they
care for and about animals, you need to think some more. PETA literally
yells and screams about how others "kill animals" but this is how
they operate? Pathetic.

And you know what I wonder? PETA's official count of animals
they kill is 86.3 percent. But if they're going around picking up
animals, killing them while they drive around and not even giving them a
chance to be adopted, and then destroying the evidence by dumping
the bodies in the trash, are those deaths being reported? My
guess: no. While 86.3 percent is awful, the actual number is probably
much, much higher. How dare they lecture anyone
about the "ethical" treatment of animals!

Ceasar keeping warm in the box.

I have two kinds of boxes on the front porch for the kitties to snuggle up in. Both of them have fluffy warm towels at the bottom. One is this cardboard box, and the other is an old purple plastic storage bin. Its big enough for both Ceasar and Empress to snuggle in, but Empress (her royal highness) says "No way am I sharing!" and thats that...Once she makes up her mind, you better just give in. :)

Nov. 28, 2006

Pepper really loved playing in the snow.

I wish I would have had a video camera to capture Pepper playing in the snow. As the flakes would come down, he would leap high in the air trying to catch them. He would chase snowballs that were rolled on the ground, pouncing on them and trying to toss them high up. Cute!!

Update on Mystery Meezer and Ringo,

Turns out that both of these kitties belong in a neighborhood thats not too far away. Apparently they do both have owners, just really really bad ones! The kitties are welcome to come up to my house and eat anytime. My two outdoor kitties are enjoying the extras I've been giving them and have each gained 2 or 3 pounds. When its really cold out, its important they have extra fat insulation as well as a nice safe, warm, and dry place to sleep.

Nov. 27, 2006

Empress explores the snow.

Late last night a small bit of snow came in, maybe an inch. Of course the cats refuse to listen to my good advice to stay inside and warm, they decided that they had to figure out what this wet cold stuff was. Thankfully I've been overfeeding the outdoor kitties, so my two have added about 3 pounds of insulation. ;)

MeiLin meets Ringo

A few days ago a new kitten showed up on my front porch. He was bawling, wet, cold, and starving. Of course I have a super soft heart for animals, so I put out extra food. He's been camped out on the front porch ever since. I brought him in to introduce him to MeiLin since they are about the same age. I don't want to rush it, but I would like to get a companion for her maybe after I get my yearly raise. So, I'm going to see if Ringo gets along with her...and then get him neutered and make him an indoor kitty.
Oh, the reason I named the new boy kitten Ringo is he has this tail you wouldn't believe. When its cold or he is startled it fluffs up huge and its also unusually long with bands of lighter grey that make ring patterns. He holds it straight up and curved slightly kind of like a Lemur does. Its a cute cat, but I don't know if you can tell in that photo...he is so incredibly thin. I can feel every bone in his body. Poor baby!!
There is something thats starting to bother me though, I don't know if my neighborhood is filled with bad pet owners who starve their pets. Or if people are coming up to the wooded area behind the developement and dumping off their animals thinking that they will hunt mice in the woods and live happy and free? This is the second stray that was obviously someone's pet that has shown up at my house.
I still have Mystery Meezer, but she is scared of the new arrival and I worry she isn't getting her share of the food. I'm gonna have to get another food bowl and put it in a different spot away from the others in a hope that she will get more in her skinny little body. She's still too thin, even though I've been feeding her since halloween. I wonder if she has worms? I can't afford a vet visit, but if she has worms then she'll give them to the other cats too. I'll have to go to Wilco (farm store) and get some worm medicine just to be on the safe side and treat all the cats.

MeiLin attacking the sparkles on my shirt.

I'm heading off for the family thanksgiving, sorry didn't post anything earlier this week, I'll try to post another picture on friday. Everyone stay safe on the roads and get back home in one piece. Oh yeah, MeiLin says bring some turkey home for her!

Nov 17, 2006

MeiLin enjoys the tiny box.

The box is moved to different locations, but MeiLin finds it everytime.

If I can't fit in it, I shall play around it!

I got a box with my dvd's in it today, and MeiLin seems to enjoy her new "toy". Recycling is fun, with the help of your kitty! :)

Nov 15, 2006

This is MeiLin's new favorite spot for naps.

It took her awhile to warm up to the new couch, but once she realised the back was perfect for naps thats been her new favorite spot. The back cushions are attached to the sturdy back, so they form a nice little platform. Now she completely ignores the wonderful basket with blanket that use to be a good napping spot...lol.

Nov. 13, 2006

A picture from this last summer

This is an old picture of Pepper, Rajjah, and Carmelita playing in the shade. I miss her so much! And I miss the sun, its rained everyday this month.

Nov. 11, 2006

MeiLin gets an all fish channel, all the time, television!

Just like a human, she watches the new tv all day and half the night. I visited my friend on friday and her roommate wanted to get rid of the tank with fish and everything...so I said, sure, I'd take it off her hands. :) MeiLin thinks its a new toy just for her, so now she's not so ticked I didn't bring the black feather thingie home with us.

Nov. 10, 2006

Oh Yes, WonderKitty was at it again.

I heard a loud bang and went to discover MeiLin was once again on top of the bathroom door. She must leap up there from somewhere, but she gives it away when the door swings and slams into the wall. Thankfully she only stays up there just long enough for me to snap a few pics, but still...very Naughty kitty!

Nov. 9, 2006

MeiLin gets freaked out by Dr. Phil

This is when we were still at my mother's house. MeiLin loves watching tv, but some of the shows get a different reaction. Right after this picture was taken she puts her paw on the screen and then decideds to jump almost straight in the air and take off. You can tell she's all blurry cause she's about to freak out. Murphy was napping and couldn't care less what was on tv. Was very funny to watch her reaction.

I was talking with my mother yesterday and I told her, that the feelings I get from having MeiLin in my life are very different from when I had my darling Rajjah. MeiLin brings alot of laughter and joy, and Rajjah caused more of a sweet, slightly maternal enviroment around her. Though its almost been two months since I lost her, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about her and miss her so much. Every once in a while I think I hear her special meow. She was a very special kitty that has an important place in my heart. Though the pain of losing Rajjah will never go away, MeiLin's presence has lifted some of my sorrow and allowed me to laugh once again.

Update on the Mystery Meezer, I've run ads and asked around but no one knows to whom the MM belongs. She has been hanging around eating daily, but I don't spend alot of time outdoors when its raining (been raining 10days straight!!)I think that she is confused, because she really wants the human company...but ugh, its cold and rainy...I have a front porch thats nice and dry, but I don't like standing out there in the cold and damp. The cats have all found the decks to be great places to get out of the weather but I'm working on building a waterproof shelter for the front porch so I can keep an eye on them this cold season.

Nov. 8. 2006

You weren't planning on going anywhere without me where you??

I'm too cute not to smuggle in your luggage!

Sorry about the blur factor but she saw my finger touching the Click button and it takes about 10 seconds from the click to the actual picture...or so it seems. She hears the click or sees my finger moving and that gets her all perked up for a game of chase the bean's fingers.
My best photos of her are when she's sleeping or just waking up...since she isn't blurry then, like this photo of her from last night.

Nov. 7, 2006

I have no fear, I am WonderKitty!

This is MeiLin up on the top of the door in the bathroom. She has no fear! I wish she would have stood still for a second so I could get the camera focused, but my guess is she just wanted to get up there to see what it would be like...she jumped down right after I snapped this pic.

November 6, 2006

This is MeiLin at my mom's house playing with a black feather boa.

She stops playing long enough for me get an unblurry pic (sortof)!

MeiLin here, I snucked in the typity room when my bean went to get more coffees. tee hee hee. She's been keeping me outs of the typity room cause last times I snucked in and played with the dangling things behinds the big machine. Hows was I suppose to know it would make everythings go all black and fritzy? Good things I'm super cutes. Thats what the bean says all the time, mostly afters I do something against these mysterious "rules". I can't figure out what "rules" mean, but I break them alots...I like breakings things...mostly if it makes lots of noise, it needs to be broked!

Now about this here two photos she's postings today, they don't do just-ices to the joys of a whole toy made alls out of feathers. Oh the joys, the sheer extacys! I trieded real hard to make the bean bring it with us whens we leaved to come back home. But she said it belong to her neice and wasn't really a kitty toy. What? Everythings is a kitty toy and everythings belongs to me! Beans, what you gonna do? Haven't they figured out that cats are the centers of the universe and the rightful rulers of all?
Uh oh, I hears the footsteps. I got to scoot before I gets caught...hehehe. I'll sneaks in agains when the bean forgets about the dangling toys behind the typity machine.

November 3, 2006

Another picture of the mystery Meezer when she met MeiLin.

Good mews everybody! The mystery Meezer was on my neighbors porch when I returned home today!!! She started meowing up a storm once she realised the food provider was back...lol. I had my 2 cats, plus Pepper already on my front porch bawling for food, so I put theirs out then braved the pouring rain to lure Mystery Meezer over to my house. I put food down a safe distance from the other kitties and she started eating right away. Looks like I have two wayward souls to feed in addition to my three faithful companions this winter. I'll just buy an extra bag of food each month. I can't take on the vet responsiblities of two more kitties but its my hope that if no one claims the Mystery Meezer I can adopt her out to a new wonderful home. I'm still working on getting the neighbor to give up Pepper so I can place him with another home, specially since they never ever feed him, but the only way they will give him up is if I keep him forever( so the kids could still play with him without responsibility is my guess), and I just can't afford all the shots, and neutering of four kitties. I know my financial limit is three cats, though I do take in strays frequently and feed them up to a good weight and then adopt them out to new homes. But the annual vet bill of four or more is just a bit more then I can handle. I'd have 15 kitties, if I could afford it. :)
The Mystery Meezer is very friendly to other people, but not to other kitties...so she'd have to go to a 1 pet only home. But other then being thin, she appears to be in good health. About the same age as MeiLin maybe a month or so older, but under a year old.

October 31(2), 2006

Found this kitty cold and starving outside on halloween, not sure to whom she belongs. I brought her inside and fed her, but she hissed at MeiLin and chased her around the house trying to fight with her. So after mystery kitty ate a bunch I sadly had to put her back outside. I'm getting ready to leave for 3 days again and couldn't be here to supervise the kittys to see if they would eventually get along...or else I would have tried to keep her. She was very friendly to people but hated all the other outdoor kitties and hissed and scratched if they got too close. The girl who feeds my kittys when I'm away will put out extra just incase the mystery Meezer comes back. I would love for MeiLin to have an indoor companion and she seemed very interested in the mystery one, but the lost one didn't seem to happy to see her at all.

Happy Howlaween! from MAX and all of us at PetPics and stories

This is Max, my cousin's malamute. He's the sweetest nicest dog you'll ever meet. He shares his home with Mr.Green, and a fluffy kitty, and three beans who love him very much! Max is about 11 or 12 years old, so he's not as spry as he use to be. But don't tell him he's old, he can still take you for a walk...even if you weren't planning on going..lol.

October 30, 2006

You can look at me, but don't try to touch me...I can fly!

No matter how often I attempted to get him to come sit on my finger, Mr. Green just likes to flutter away. At least he stayed in the room and I didn't have to chase him around the house. There was a very fluffy siamese type kitty (himilayan?)somewhere lurking around the house. He let me pet him, but never photographed. He would come upstairs to eat, then quickly retreat downstairs when I got the camera out.
Tomorrow, a photo of Max my cousin's dog.

October 29, 2006

MeiLin has discovered the top shelf in the kitchen.

Do not disturb the great and powerful queen!!

I'll show you more pics of the cute birdie tomorrow, but I just had to quickly snap these photos so I could share them right away. She's so naughty cause she's not suppose to get on the counters, and then to find her up on the very top shelf...sigh, too cute, but naughty!! lol

October 28, 2006

MeiLin helps herself to Murphy's stinky goodness.

Murphy is such an easy going cat, he didn't mind if MeiLin ate all his yummy food. Of course, he knew I'd put more out for him...so he had no worries.

Going to be showing more photos of my time at my mother's house as well as at my cousin's house, before I go back to my normal time. Which is running around, petting MeiLin every 5 minutes and feeding all the neighbor cats. lol.

October 27, 2006

Mr. Green wants to know who's looking at who?!

Just returned from caring for my cousin's pets while she was away on a business trip.
She has three lovely pets, though only 2 would let me take photos! lol. One of them is this darling little lovebird, Mr. Green. He was very vocal, but darling!! :)

October 24, 2006

MeiLin and Murphy seem to be saying "Nothing to see here."

On a side note, I won't be able to update the blog till friday afternoon at the earliest. Sorry for the lack of photos till then. I'll be pet sitting my cousin's big dog, hope to get a few pics of him while I'm there.

October 23, 2006

Water is bestest when its super fresh right from the tap! YUMMY!!!!

October 21, 2006

MeiLin enjoys watching television, you can't tell but this is a show about bears. She loves the Animal Planet channel. Murphy just loves sleeping.

October 20, 2006

Murphy is an elderly kitty, so he enjoys his naps very much.

He doesn't enjoy being photographed with a flash when he is napping...oops!

October 19, 2006

Grandma catches a quick nap with MeiLin.
